  • As a Blaster Tech, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces for painting, removing rust and old paint, and ensuring a smooth and clean surface for further inspections on aircraft components.
  • This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Duties: - Operate media blasting equipment to remove rust, old paint, and other debris from surfaces.
  • Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear while working with media blasting equipment
  • Inspect surfaces after media blasting to ensure they are clean and ready for further Inspection Processes
  • Maintain and clean media blasting equipment regularly to ensure proper functioning
  • Collaborate with other team members to complete projects on time and according to specifications

Qualifications

  • Previous experience using media blasters or in a similar role is preferred. Proficient in using media blasting equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of different types of surfaces and materials
  • Ability to read and follow instructions accurately
  • Basic math skills for measuring and calculating material quantities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects if required
  • Prioritize daily workload based on program, management, and/or scheduling requirements.
  • Plan and execute component repair activities.
  • Recognize or identify problems and provide input for solutions.
  • Perform tasks under distracting or monotonous conditions without significant loss of thought process and efficiency.
  • Operate hand and power tools.
  • Read, understand, and respond to written instructions and logbook notations.
  • Inform appropriate personnel of materials and equipment problems.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • At least 0-2 years experience in general maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2+ years of experience in work directly related to aircraft component maintenance.
  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant license.

Physical Demands And Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Examples of work performed in this classification include, but are not limited to,

  • Remove coatings and clean aircraft components
  • Provide reports to management as required
  • Write routine reports and correspondence to management
  • Provide guidance to team members by interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Planning and organizing all work within area of responsibility
