Purpose
Cabinet finishers perform functions related to the finishing of aircraft cabinets and interior components for wood, honeycomb, or composite assemblies using design and engineering drawings and specifications.
Essential Job Functions
- Fabricate aircraft furniture and other composite, honeycomb, or wood-surfaced subassemblies following aircraft specifications, design, and engineering drawings with a focus on safety, quality, detail, and productivity.
- Assemble pins and glue cabinet shells. Install drawer slides, hinges, latches, and other hardware in sub-assemblies.
- Apply exterior surface materials such as laminates, veneers, and cap strips.
- Maintain the work area to the highest safety standards, enforce regulations, and ensure good housekeeping practices.
- Tag aircraft components, parts, and panels properly for storage, including racks by aircraft.
- Follow documentation procedures and sign-offs in accordance with the Repair Station Quality Manual and task requirements.
- Use tools and equipment correctly for safety and to prevent damage. Return tools and equipment to proper storage after use.
- Seek continuous process improvements and efficiency increases, prioritizing safety.
- Communicate regularly with the Lead Technician regarding progress and potential issues.
- Interact with customers professionally and respectfully.
- Ensure high-quality service, safety, and performance to exceed customer satisfaction by delivering airworthy, reliable, and clean aircraft on time.
- Participate in required training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least three years of experience in manufacturing, fitting, and installing custom cabinetry.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in oral and written English.
- Personal set of standard trade-specific tools for reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Over 3 years of experience in V/VVIP custom aircraft cabinet finishing.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and symbols, including aircraft location identifiers.
- Advanced knowledge of aircraft finish and paint application, especially for VIP aircraft, including clear coat and composite/Aluminum panels.
- Proficient in applying FAA-approved data (e.g., IPC, M/M, OHM, SRM).
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
