We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA), part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort.

This position is onsite in Wichita, Kansas, with a work shift from Monday through Thursday, reporting at 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Aircraft Assembler, Bell Wichita FLRAA

As an aircraft assembler, you will work on and around the fuselage for the FLRAA aircraft, responsible for structural or mechanical assembled parts, and maintaining proficient records of the aircraft completion status daily.

You will perform assembly operations on all parts of the aircraft, including fixture and bench assembly, drilling, deburring, and installing fasteners on metal and composite components.

What you’ll be doing as an Aircraft Assembler:
  • Assembling aircraft and test articles by installing sheetmetal and machined assemblies according to engineering instructions.
  • Properly assembling and installing fuselage components to meet engineering objectives and schedules, analyzing, interpreting, and following engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Performing repairs and alterations as per design changes, including removing parts and making replacements.
  • Preventing Foreign Object Damage (FO) in all articles and aircraft assigned.
  • Working from blueprints, sketches, and templates, with or without tooling jigs or fixtures.
  • Possibly performing composite and fiberglass bond layup or repairs.
  • Fitting and fabricating component parts per engineering requirements.
  • Following written and verbal work instructions.
  • Performing scheduled and unscheduled inspections.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
Skills You Bring to This Role:
  • Familiarity with assembly tooling, fixtures, and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, scales, and gauges.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), as all work instructions and documents are accessed digitally.
What you need to be successful:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of aircraft maintenance or assembly experience.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant license preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints and drawings, with strong shop math skills.
  • Willingness to support manufacturing during overtime hours as needed.

Note: Bell/Textron relocation assistance is not available for this role.
