We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort.
This position is onsite in Wichita, Kansas. The work shift is Monday through Thursday reporting at 6:00am to 4:30pm.
Aircraft Assembler, Bell Wichita FLRAA
As an aircraft assembler, you will be responsible for working on and around the fuselage for the FLRAA aircraft.
Responsible for structural or mechanical assembled parts on aircraft, while keeping proficient records of the aircraft completion status daily.
Perform most of the assembly operations on all parts of the aircraft as well as fixture and bench assembly operations, to include drilling, deburring, and installing fasteners on a combination of metal and composite components.
What you’ll be doing as an Aircraft Assembler:
- Responsible for the assembly of aircrafts and test articles by installing a variety of sheetmetal and/or machined assemblies for new or modified articles according to engineering instructions.
- Responsible for proper assembly and installation of fuselage aircraft components to meet engineering objectives and schedules. Assist with analyzing, interpreting, and proving engineering assembly/installation drawings, and specifications for production use.
- Performs difficult repairs and alterations per design changes, removing the required parts and making replacements
- Responsible for FO prevention in all articles and aircrafts that they are assigned to.
- Required to work from blueprints or project sketches and templates with or without the use of tooling jigs or fixtures
- May require some composite and fiberglass bond layup or repair.
- Can make necessary layouts to fabricate and fit component parts per engineering requirements.
- Works to follows written and verbal work instructions
- Required to perform scheduled/unscheduled inspections.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Skills You Bring to This Role:
- Familiar with the proper use of assembly tooling and fixtures, as well as various precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, scales, and all types of gages.
- Good Communication Skills, both verbal and written
- Intermediate Computer Skills- MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. (All daily work instructions, documents, and specifications are accessed via computer)
What you need to be successful:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 2 years in Aircraft maintenance or assembly experience
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant license preferred.
- Must have basic knowledge of aircraft manufacturing principles.
- Ability to read complex blueprints and drawings, advanced shop math and knowledge of aircraft manufacturing principles.
- Able to support Manufacturing on an as needed basis during overtime hours.
