Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory is seeking a model and simulation researcher to contribute to the Airborne Radar Systems and Techniques group. You will model RF systems, analyze performance, prototype sensors, and help develop algorithms for detecting and tracking targets in complex environments.

The role involves collaborating with diverse experts, preparing technical documentation, and supporting field data collections and system demonstrations, with occasional travel.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field; or a Bachelor’s with 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or C/C++.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Willingness to support field tests, data collection campaigns, and system demonstrations with occasional travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop physics-based models of radio frequency systems interacting with the environment.
  • Collaborate with staff to estimate system performance and compare modeled vs observed data.
  • Curate real-world and simulated data sets to test new algorithms.
  • Establish quantitative performance metrics from qualitative goals.
  • Create visual representations of modeling results for diverse audiences.
  • Prepare technical documentation, test plans, reports, and presentations.
