Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Network Installer in Oakland, CA to support FAA network infrastructure. You will install and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and fiber cabling while ensuring performance and security for NAS systems.

You will work with SD-WAN, collaboration with aviation experts, and manage documentation and diagrams. Local travel to FAA facilities is required, and you will help keep national airspace communications robust.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience (or equivalent).
• Experience managing and supporting enterprise network environments.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and routing protocols.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar networking technologies.
• Experience with SD-WAN, fiber optics, and wireless LAN/WAN technologies.
• Familiarity with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and network monitoring tools.
• Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and schematics.
• Experience with fiber testing tools (OTDR).
• Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the uptime, performance, and security of FAA network infrastructure.
• Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.
• Support SD-WAN solutions across distributed environments.
• Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cabling (single-mode and multi-mode).
• Perform fiber testing using OTDR and certification tools.
• Monitor systems daily, analyze logs, and respond to incidents.
• Troubleshoot network issues across fiber, SD-WAN, and IP layers, escalating as needed.
• Support network cutovers, migrations, and failover validation.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, and configuration records.
