Job summary

RVA, Inc. seeks a Metering Specialist to manage safe, orderly flow of air traffic at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in the Non-movement areas. On-site at EWR, the incumbent will serve as primary System Operator when active and coordinate with airline, airport, and FAA teams.

The role requires familiarity with Aerobahn and gate management concepts, strong problem-solving and customer service, and adherence to testing and background checks per RVA policy.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 2 years experience as a fully qualified, active ATC, pilot or airline dispatcher.
• Ability to deal with customers in a courteous, enthusiastic and professional manner; strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems and customer complaints.
• Position is subject to drug and/or alcohol testing per RVA's non-DOT policy; ten-year background check required.

Responsibilities

• Decide and recommend the sequence and separation of gate traffic ready for pushback and engine start.
• Plan the sequence of arriving traffic using Aerobahn and other aids prior to arrival at the airport.
• Merge arriving and pushback traffic while ensuring equitable treatment and minimal delays.
• Assess usability of communications equipment, Aerobahn Technology, and gate management software; resolve issues.
• Coordinate with airline, airport, and FAA to determine taxi instructions, routes, and frequency transfers.
