Job summary

Jobtailor in Miami is seeking an entry-level Training Simulator Operator to support FAA air traffic controller training services. You will operate as pilot and controller in a training environment, handle radar display and voice systems, and translate information into ATC terminology.

Responsibilities include responding to student commands, recording actions, and completing classroom and lab certifications.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams and manuals.
• Ability to speak clearly and be understood.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team is desired.
• ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation lab experience and certification are strongly desired but not required.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• FAA JO 7110.65 working knowledge is strongly desired but not required.
• Effective team-building skills.
• MS Office Suite proficiency, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Basic familiarity with current technology tools such as tablets, notebooks, and applications.
• Basic familiarity with or experience in pilot/controller communications or phraseology.

Responsibilities

• Operate as the pilot and other controllers in a air traffic controller training simulator.
• Operate simulated radar display and voice communication systems during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises.
• Receive voice commands from students and input appropriate entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
• Translate displayed information into appropriate air traffic control terminology.
• Respond to students via the voice communication system using proper phraseology.
• Complete classroom certification by passing tests on airspace and procedures.
• Complete lab certification by performing as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions.
• Support FAA air traffic controller training services through contractor-provided instructional and training support.
