Job summary

Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) seeks a Staff Air Quality Specialist to support our air quality team in Portland or Lake Oswego. You will help clients with permitting and compliance, build emissions inventories in Excel, and apply dispersion-modeling tools while interpreting regulations.

You will grow technical depth, engage clients, and manage small projects, with opportunities to lead scopes, schedules, and budgets. Office or on-site work is supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Meteorology, or related field with applicable coursework.
• Experience in air quality permitting or compliance.
• Familiarity with emissions inventory development and air dispersion modeling tools.
• Working knowledge of applicable air quality regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Intellectual curiosity and drive to understand.
• Ability to solve problems considering risks and benefits in decision-making.
• Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
• Ability to perform physical duties including lifting and use of protective gear.
• Experience with project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Dive into air quality projects supporting industrial clients with permitting and compliance.
• Build emissions inventories in Excel and apply modeling tools.
• Interpret environmental regulations and shape project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Contribute to technical reports and client/agency discussions.
• Take increasing ownership of tasks and deliverables with quality review.
• Collaborate with a team in-office or on-site to support project goals.
