Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Air Quality Scientist III for the New York/New Jersey area. The role involves performing air quality and noise impact analyses using modeling tools, and participating in ambient and source monitoring.

Candidates should have 3–10 years experience, a BS in a relevant field, and be willing to travel; 70% office/field; sponsorship not available; relocation not available; 70/30 office/field time; hybrid work model. US citizenship required.

Qualifications

• Ambient and noise monitoring experience required.
• BS degree in Physics, Mathematics, Atmospheric Science, Environmental Engineering, or similar + 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
• US Citizenship is required.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Air Quality Scientist III. The Natural Resources and Environmental Permitting Department in New York and New Jersey is seeking a qualified scientist (3-10 yrs experience) to perform air quality and/or noise impact analyses through using mathematical modeling tools and conducting ambient and source air and noise monitoring programs. Skills required for this position include but are not limited to:

• Perform field work in both urban and rural settings.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to work as part of a larger team is a must.
• Eager to learn various air and noise modeling software.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Ambient and noise monitoring experience required.
• BS degree in Physics, Mathematics, Atmospheric Science, Environmental Engineering, or similar + 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
• Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong analytical and computational skill.
• Candidate must have excellent technical writing skills and ability to effectively discussion his or her work.
• Candidate must be detail oriented and have the ability to work independently.
• Candidate must be experienced with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, AERMOD, MOVES, CadnaA or SoundPLAN, sound levels meter, and/or air monitoring equipment a plus.
• 40 hour HAZWOPER training.

• Estimated office/field time: 70% / 30%. Must be willing to travel.
