Job summary

Maersk in the United States (South Carolina) is seeking an Air Freight Operator to manage end-to-end air freight shipments, with a focus on air imports and flexible support for air exports as needed. You will ensure timely, accurate, and compliant execution from booking through final delivery, while maintaining superior customer service.

You will own file management, documentation, system updates, and communication with internal stakeholders to keep shipments moving smoothly, including CargoWise

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Air Freight Operations experience preferred.
• Strong experience in Air Import operations required.
• Air Export experience considered an asset.
• Experience working within freight forwarding or logistics environments.

Job description

Owns the job file and also has responsibility for creating and updating relevant documentation and Customer Invoices in the system. Job Summary: The Air Freight Operator is responsible for the end-to-end operational management of air freight shipments, with a primary focus on air imports and the flexibility to support air export operations as business needs require. This role ensures the timely, accurate, and compliant execution of all operational activities from booking confirmation through final delivery while maintaining exceptional customer service and operational efficiency. The Air Freight Operator owns all file management activities, documentation processing, system updates, operational finance responsibilities, and communication with internal stakeholders to ensure shipments move seamlessly through the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate air import shipments from booking confirmation through final delivery.
• Monitor shipment milestones to ensure timely movement and compliance with customer requirements.
• Coordinate with overseas offices, agents, airlines, trucking providers, warehouses, customs brokers, and customers.
• Ensure all import documentation is received, reviewed, and processed accurately.
• Track shipment status and proactively identify and resolve operational issues.
• Arrange delivery appointments and coordinate final-mile transportation as required.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain timely and accurate shipment updates within the company operating system (e.g., CargoWise One).
• Update shipment milestones and operational statuses.
• Ensure data accuracy across all shipment records.
• Monitor system alerts and take corrective actions as necessary.
• Provide proactive communication regarding shipment status, delays, and exceptions.
• Partner closely with Customer Service teams to provide operational updates.
• Support customer inquiries by researching shipment details and providing timely resolutions.

Experience 2+ years of Air Freight Operations experience preferred. Strong experience in Air Import operations required. Air Export experience considered an asset. Experience working within freight forwarding or logistics environments. Experience using transportation management systems such as CargoWise One preferred.

Pay Range

The stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary and may be adjusted based on market conditions, experience, and location. Final compensation will be discussed directly with the selected candidate(s) in compliance with all applicable laws.
