Air Logistics Expert - Semiconductor & Project Logistics, you will serve as a subject matter expert responsible for managing complex, high-value, and mission‑critical air freight shipments from origin through final delivery. You will support customers operating in highly specialized industries including semiconductors, electronics, advanced manufacturing, technology, and other project‑driven sectors where precision, visibility, and operational excellence are essential.

This role requires strong expertise in international air freight operations, specialized cargo handling, risk management, and multimodal transportation solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, carriers, operations teams, and global stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of complex logistics requirements.

How you create impact
  • Manage complex air import and export shipments from origin through final delivery.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for specialized, high-value, and mission‑critical air freight movements.
  • Support customers within semiconductor, electronics, advanced manufacturing, technology, and other specialized industries.
  • Coordinate shipments involving oversized, high-value, temperature‑sensitive, fragile, or operationally complex cargo.
  • Manage specialized shipment requirements including temperature control, shock indicators, tilt indicators, monitoring devices, enhanced security protocols, and special handling procedures.
  • Develop customized transportation solutions utilizing air freight, trucking, and specialized ground transportation services.
  • Coordinate closely with airlines, trucking providers, warehouses, ground handlers, customs teams, overseas offices, and logistics partners.
  • Maintain proactive shipment visibility and provide timely communication to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify operational risks and implement contingency plans to minimize disruptions and maintain service commitments.
  • Troubleshoot shipment exceptions, delays, capacity challenges, routing issues, and operational escalations.
  • Ensure compliance with customer SOPs, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal operating procedures.
  • Partner with Customer Care, Operations, Sales, Pricing, and Key Account teams to support complex customer requirements and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide operational guidance and expertise during implementation of new customer business and specialized logistics programs.
  • Contribute market intelligence, carrier knowledge, routing strategies, and operational expertise to develop innovative customer solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on service quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coach, mentor, and share industry expertise with Air Logistics Specialists to build internal knowledge and operational capabilities.
What we would like you to bring
  • Several years of hands‑on experience within Air Logistics, Air Freight, Freight Forwarding, or International Transportation.
  • Strong experience managing international Import / Export air freight operations.
  • Demonstrated experience handling complex, high-value, sensitive, time‑critical, oversized, or project‑related shipments.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor, electronics, technology, advanced manufacturing, or similarly demanding customers is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of specialized shipment‑management requirements such as temperature control, shock monitoring, tilt monitoring, security controls, and high‑value cargo handling.
  • Strong understanding of airline operations, routings, capacity management, trucking, warehouses, ground handling, and international freight‑forwarding processes.
  • Experience coordinating first‑mile or final‑mile trucking and specialized transportation solutions.
  • Ability to assess operational risk and develop practical solutions under time‑sensitive conditions.
  • Strong customer‑facing skills with the ability to communicate confidently about complex logistics requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively across operations, sales, customer care, carriers, vendors, and international teams.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to manage multiple high‑priority shipments simultaneously.
  • A collaborative mindset with an interest in developing and sharing expertise across the wider Air Logistics organization.

What's in it for you

The hourly wage for this role is between $67k - $84k annually. Base wage is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and welfare benefits, a 401k retirement savings plan, tuition reimbursement, and incentive compensation for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. Kuehne+Nagel reviews pay ranges regularly to ensure competitive and fair pay based on industry market data.
