Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding – Air Freight Import Specialist position based in El Paso, TX. You will be the main point of contact coordinating between customers, customs brokers, and air carriers to move import shipments efficiently.

Responsibilities include confirming arrivals, handling documentation for cargo release, and ensuring accurate tracking and reporting in CW1. Strong Excel and MS Office skills, plus freight industry experience, are preferred.

Job Title: Air Freight Import Specialist

Job Location: El Paso, Texas

As an Air Freight Import Specialist, you will be responsible for the movement of our customer’s air import shipments.

You will be the main point of contact for coordination between the customer, the customs brokers, and shipping carriers.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute orders by confirming arrival times, coordinating with customs brokerage, inputting data, and dispatching deliveries.
• Work with air and ground transportation partners to handle shipments.
• Retrieve shipment details, handle all documentation for cargo release and data entry for each shipment.
• Further increase customer satisfaction and business share through proactive and regular contact.
• Communicate with and ensure release of freight from air carriers.
• Follow up on any pending closure/export of bonded shipments.
• Set up and coordinate deliveries to the customer or designated consignee.
• Always keep open and professional communication with the customers, DHL Commercial Team members and Overseas Stations regarding shipments in transit.
• Participate in customer calls as needed.
• Daily track and trace of shipments by following up with gateway stations and airlines to track departure/arrival information and update milestones in CW1 system accordingly.
• Ensure accurate and detailed exceptions are being entered and followed up in CW1.
• Responsible for accounting (costs vs revenue) on shipments.
• Ensure quotes and approvals are properly and timely documented/filed within CW1. Green Light Requested (Z31 milestone), and Green Light Approved (Z32 milestone) updated in the system.
• Email backups to be filed in eDocs within CW1.
• Ensure accurate P/L Reason Codes and Job Profitability notes are entered in CW1. With detailed comments on negative/positive profit variances.
• Audit charges for accuracy prior billing.
• Raise tickets and/or escalated auto rating issues.
• Confirm payment responsibility (depending on shipment’s incoterms) and audit credit status as needed.
• Document all additional charges a shipment incurs with, communicate those charges with the customer, request their written approval (if charges are not contemplated in the current customer global contracts), and bill those additional charges.
• Ensure customer profiles are accurate and updated.
• Adhere to the Global Target Operation Model (GTOM) and the One File One Operator (1F1O) guidelines set by DHL Global Forwarding (SOP’s and links below).
• Timely completion of required training on the My Talent World portal.
• Weekly participation on the Performance Dialog platform.
• Daily/weekly review/action of Station Monitor metrics.
• Additional projects in accordance with business needs.

Pay Range: $19.11 - $25.48/hr. (Based on Experience)
