Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Work Leader to join our team at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF) Detachment in Guam. This role involves overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning systems onboard submarines, ensuring optimal temperature and air quality for the crew while submerged. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and applying specialized knowledge of submarine HVAC systems and refrigeration principles, all within strict safety protocols in a confined submarine environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead production reviews, plan, and schedule work assignments.
  • Assign tasks, address delays, and resolve issues related to job orders, plans, and specifications.
  • Ensure availability of tools, equipment, and materials for tasks.
  • Monitor and verify work quality and compliance with standards and deadlines.
  • Guide and supervise team members, demonstrating proper work methods.
  • Communicate with management regarding work progress, delays, and challenges.
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards, including proper tool use.
  • Participate in project discussions, resource planning, and provide progress feedback.
  • Conduct site evaluations and address project changes or conflicts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Naval Shipyard production work on Los Angeles and Virginia Class submarines.
  • Deep knowledge of ship/submarine maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modification trades.
  • Proven leadership in planning, scheduling, and supervising production in a naval environment.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills for instructing and guiding team members.
  • Ability to work independently, manage schedules, and solve operational issues.
  • Active Secret Clearance is required.
