Job summary

North Slope Borough School District is seeking a dedicated food service aide to assist with the preparation and service of nutritious meals for students and staff, ensuring meals are served on time and safely. You will help with storage, cleanup, and safety tasks, and may operate food service equipment as needed.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, good reading skills for procedures, and the ability to lift 70 pounds. An Alaska driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read and respond clearly to questions from supervisor, staff, students and the public.
  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
  • Must hold a valid Alaska Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the production and service of palatable school meals.
  • Participate in storage, cleanup, and safety tasks.
  • Operate the food service vehicles to deliver food to school sites.
  • Expedite incoming and outgoing food to locations as required.
  • Process incoming freight and check paperwork.
  • Lift and stock freight; keep storage areas neat and clean.
  • Operate a pallet jack and lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Adhere to District policies and regulations.

Assist in the preparation and service of food in a manner that will ensure nutritious meals and snacks, served at appropriate times, while safeguarding the heath of students, staff, and visitors.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Current Alaska Driver’s License
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • Iñupiaq speaking, language & culture experience.
