Are you interested in working on cutting edge generative modeling technologies and its application to virtual assistants to enrich billions of people!? Join the AI/ML Response team at Apple. Our team is responsible for developing cutting-edge machine learning technology for natural language and speech generation, including projects like Apple Intelligence and Siri. We are looking for exceptional senior applied research engineer experienced in design and development of training data, adapting and deploying large scale ML models with a focus on natural language and speech generation features. Additionally, you’ll advance and apply the latest ML techniques to Apple’s virtual assistant and dive into the details to craft the Siri experience for millions of users worldwide.

Description

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in applied ML research and development, particularly in natural language processing/generation, speech generation/understanding, and/or multimodal models, to join our cross-functional team focused on advancing capabilities in systems like Siri. We are looking for applied ML researchers who can develop end-to-end solutions from data scaling to necessary model implementation and training while collaborating with other engineering teams to bring research to production. To succeed in this role, you should be an excellent programmer and creative problem solver who enjoys learning, generating new ideas, improving processes, and to learn whatever you need to get job done. You should also thrive as a team player in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related fields
  2. 5-7+ years experience in Machine Learning
  3. Experience in developing, training/tuning large generative models or LLMs
  4. Experience with machine learning training frameworks in JAX
  5. Proficient programming skills in Python

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience in RLHF
  2. Experience with Speech LLMs or other Multimodal LLMs

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition.
