Qualifications

• Must have 48 hours of college credit or an Associate's Degree or higher.
• Must meet ESSA paraprofessional requirements such as completing the Paraprofessional Academy.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with students.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of a teacher; work with individuals or small groups.
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective tests or assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom and manage materials.
• Assist with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Supervise students during the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties.
• Inform teachers of any special needs or issues with individual students.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings; perform other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Principal and Teachers assigned

PAY GRADE: Aide 1

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and

administrative requirements. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the

immediate direction of a certified teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

• Must have one of the following:
• 48 hours of college credit, or
• Associate's Degree or higher, or
• have met formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) such as the Paraprofessional Academy offered by a Regional Service Center

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Perform other duties as assigned.
