Job summary

Magnolia ISD is seeking a Classroom Aide to assist teachers with instructional materials, classroom displays, and administrative tasks. You will help maintain an orderly learning environment and support student activities under certified staff supervision.

The role involves supervising students during lunch, on buses, and during outdoor activities, with emphasis on effective communication and teamwork. High school diploma and Texas aide cert. required or pursued within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Texas educational aide certificate or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Applicants with fewer than 48 college hours must pass paraprofessional assessment exam.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of testing instruments and work assignments.
• Maintain neat and orderly classroom and help with equipment inventory.
• Keep administrative records and assist with reports; orient substitutes.
• Supervise students inside and outside class, including lunch, bus, and playground.
• Participate in staff development and faculty meetings.

Job description

Job Title: Classroom Aide Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt

Reports to: Principal and Teacher(s) Assigned Pay Grade: Clerical 1

Dept./School: Assigned Campus

Primary Purpose: Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements.

Work under supervision of a certified teacher.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: High school diploma
Valid Texas educational aide certificate or willingness to obtain certificate (at applicant's expense) within 30 days of employment
Any applicant for paraprofessional jobs who is recommended for hire in Magnolia ISD and has not obtained a minimum of 48 college hours will have to pass a paraprofessional assessment exam which consists of reading, writing and mathematics.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instructional Support

1. Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
2. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
3. Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
4. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
5. Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
6. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

Student Management

1. Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
2. Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
3. Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

Other

1. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
2. Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
3. Other duties assigned.
