Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking an Aftercare Worker to support the school community by providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging aftercare environment. You will supervise students, guide activities, and ensure smooth transitions while reflecting Catholic values.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with children in a school, daycare, camp, or similar setting is preferred.
  • Ability to supervise groups of children while maintaining a safe, positive, and organized environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school staff and communicate effectively with parents.
  • Patient, dependable, responsible, and committed to fostering a caring environment.
  • Supportive of the mission, philosophy, and values of Catholic education.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage a designated group of students during aftercare hours.
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and appropriate supervision of all children in the program.
  • Plan, lead, and participate in age-appropriate games, crafts, recreational activities, homework time, and quiet activities.
  • Maintain a structured, respectful, and welcoming environment that promotes positive behavior and Christian values.
  • Assist with snack distribution, cleanup, and transitions between activities.
  • Monitor student behavior and implement school expectations in a positive and consistent manner.
  • Report behavioral, disciplinary, medical, or safety concerns promptly to the Aftercare Coordinator or school administration.
  • Maintain accurate daily attendance records and follow established student sign-in and sign-out procedures.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and fellow staff members.
  • Assist with organizing, cleaning, and securing aftercare materials and activity spaces at the end of each session.
  • Follow all school policies and diocesan Safe Environment and child protection requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Aftercare Coordinator or Principal.

Job Summary
