Job Description

Job Title: Aide - Creative Explorers Daycare

Reports to: Program Director

Department/Campus: Assigned Campus

Primary Purpose: Direct and support the learning experiences of students participating in the program.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
  • CPR and First Aid Certified or willing to get certified within 30 days of being hired

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to read and verbally communicate with children, staff, and parents
  • Ability to work with groups of children in a positive manner
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to relate to children and adults with courtesy, respect, acceptance, compassion, and patience

Experience:

  • Pre‑Service Training Certificate or documented childcare experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Plan and supervise a 30‑minute homework period and snack time.
  • Use effective teaching strategies to address different learning styles and individual student needs.
  • Implement classroom management strategies and enforce the school discipline plan.
  • Know and comply with DFPS minimum standards and all state/district regulations.
  • Maintain a respectful and positive environment that supports student growth and cooperation.
  • Keep accurate student records, including attendance, discipline, and academic information.
  • Supervise students closely, knowing each child’s name, age, abilities, and location at all times.
  • Follow state sanitation guidelines, including child hygiene and facility cleaning.
  • Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of program equipment.
Other
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance.
  • Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel.
  • Use professional information discreetly and judiciously.
  • Support and follow administrative and Board policy.
  • Represent the school system to the community in a positive, professional way.
  • Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward patrons.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment

Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
