Responsibilities

The Hospice Aide provides personal, direct patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse, as outlined in the Plan of Care. Responsibilities include:

• Reporting on patient condition or environment to the Executive Director or designee after each patient encounter, following the Care Management process as needed.
• Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as mobility, transfers, walking, grooming, bathing, dressing, undressing, eating, and toileting during each visit.
• Performing incidental household services essential for the patient's health at home, to prevent or delay institutionalization.
• Participating in QAPI (Quality Assessment & Performance Improvement) initiatives by identifying problems and reporting to the administrator as needed.
• Having reliable transportation is required.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Successful completion of a competency evaluation prior to patient care.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation.

Additional State Specific Requirements

• For Arkansas: At least one year of experience in an institutional setting or a valid certificate for long-term care, or completion of a 40-hour aide training course meeting AR regulations. Nursing students may qualify with proper documentation.

Skill Requirements

• Mature and capable of handling the demands of a hospice aide role.
• Ability to read, write, and follow directions accurately and promptly.
