Wyoming County Board of Education is seeking Substitute Aides to assist teachers across schools as needed. The role requires physical capability to lift students and provide supervision on buses, with duties spanning planning, instruction, and extracurricular activities.

Responsibilities include aiding instruction for students with handicaps, preparing instructional materials, and supporting teachers in group or one-to-one settings. Compliance with site leadership is expected.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass competency test for aide.
• Must have current First Aid/CPR card or obtain card prior to hire.

• Aid in classroom teaching, including planning and general instruction, plus extracurricular activities.
• Assist with instruction of students with handicaps, including care in feeding, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
• Assist teachers in implementing instructional programs, including small groups or one-to-one work.
• Provide general assistance to students assigned to the classroom.
• Conduct activities for students under teacher directions.
• Prepare material for instruction as outlined by the teacher.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and directors.

Substitute Aides assist teachers, as needed in their classrooms. Substitute Aides are required to be on available to work at all schools in Wyoming County, as needed.

Job Summary

1. Be physically able and willing to lift and assist students as needed
2. Provide bus supervision, as needed
3. To aid in classroom teaching which includes planning, and general instruction. Also included are extra-curricular activities that are commensurate with the operation of a successful school program
4. Assist with instruction of students as determined by the nature of theirhandicap. This will include care in the areas of feeding, dressing, toileting (including diapering, catheterization, and toilet training), and physical mobility.
5. Assist teacher(s) in a variety of ways to implement the instructional program including working directly with children in small groups or on a one-to-one basis
6. Provide general assistance to students assigned to the classroom
7. Conducts activities for students with directions firmly established by the teacher
8. Prepares material for instruction as outlined by the teacher
9. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal, Director of Special Education and Special Services or Director of Safety and Transportation

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Must be at least 18 years old
3. Must pass competency test for aide
4. Must have current First Aid/CPR card or obtain card prior to being hired
5. Demonstrates qualifications further detailed in job description

Selection Procedure

Service Personnel are hired in order of seniority, as required by WV Code.
