Job summary

Gentiva Hospice is seeking a dependable CNA to deliver compassionate, hands-on care in patients' homes across Maine. This full-time, Monday through Friday daytime position offers mileage reimbursement and a fleet vehicle option.

You will assist with personal care, hygiene, mobility, meals, and emotional support while maintaining documentation and safety protocols. A current CNA license, CPR, driver's license, and 6 months' experience are required.

Qualifications

• Active CNA license in the state of employment (Required).
• Current CPR certification (Required).
• Driver's license and reliable vehicle with insurance (Required).
• Six (6) months of direct patient care experience (Required).
• Comfortable working in home settings, hospice facilities, or long‑term care environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to terminally ill patients.
• Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and toileting.
• Support safe mobility, including use of walkers and wheelchairs.
• Help with meal preparation, feeding, and light housekeeping.
• Observe and report changes in the patient's condition.
• Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of visits.
• Attend team meetings and participate in Quality Improvement activities.
• Practice infection control and follow safety protocols at all times.

We're currently seeking a dependable, empathetic, and attentive Hospice Aide to provide essential personal care and emotional support to patients wherever they call home‑whether that's a private residence, assisted living facility, or inpatient unit. Compensation may vary within the salary range provided based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's geographic location, experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, internal equity, and department equity. Gentiva provides associates with a comprehensive Total Rewards package, of which base pay is just one component.

Salary Range: $15.55 - $18.25 per hour

Essential Functions

About You

Qualifications - What You'll Bring:

• Active CNA license in the state of employment (Required)
• Current CPR certification (Required)
• Driver's license and reliable vehicle with insurance (Required)
• Six (6) months of direct patient care experience (Required)
• Comfortable working in home settings, hospice facilities, or long‑term care environments
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and ability to handle emotional situations
• Willingness to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs

Preferred Background (Not Required):

• Experience in home health, hospice, palliative care, or oncology
• Prior roles in hospital nursing, ICU, geriatrics, med‑surg, ER, telemetry, or nursing homes
• Exposure to end‑of‑life care, wound care, or admissions support
