Job summary

SpaceXSI is seeking an AI Tutor for Icelandic to train Grok's voice and language capabilities. This remote, 6-month role focuses on translating UI content, annotating audio, and ensuring natural speech with cultural nuance.

Responsibilities include working with a small team, using proprietary tools, and possibly converting to a permanent role based on business needs. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Icelandic at CEFR C1+ is required.
• Good English skills at CEFR B2+ or higher.
• Experience with annotation, transcription, or localization projects.

AI TUTOR, ICELANDIC - TEMPORARY

In this role, you will help train and refine Grok's voice and language capabilities in Icelandic. Your expertise will directly shape how Grok speaks and understands Icelandic, from pronunciation and natural phrasing to cultural nuance. You will see your work show up in a product used by people around the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Annotate, label, and provide feedback on multilingual audio clips, voice recordings, and speech samples using proprietary tools
• Translate and localize text (UI copy, prompts, responses, and other content) from English into Icelandic, with attention to accuracy, natural phrasing, and cultural fit
• Help produce clear, natural audio data that accurately captures linguistic and prosodic details such as intonation, rhythm, and accent
• Collaborate with technical staff to refine annotation guidelines and tools for handling accents, background noise, speech variation, and multilingual audio

POSITION DETAILS:

• LENGTH OF POSITION: 6 months (extensions or conversion to a permanent role may be available based on business needs)
• LOCATION: Remote (United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia); for US-based candidates, please note that we are unable to hire in Wyoming and Illinois at this time

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficiency in Icelandic at CEFR C1 level or higher
• English proficiency at CEFR B2 level or higher

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Native proficiency in Icelandic
• English proficiency at CEFR C1 level or higher
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Advanced transcription or audio annotation, with strong attention to accents, prosody, disfluencies, and variable recording quality
  • Translation or localization work (especially UI, product copy, or conversational text) between English and Icelandic
  • Voice recording, voice acting, podcasting, or related audio production that demonstrates clear delivery and attention to sound quality
  • Background in linguistics, phonetics, speech sciences, or hands-on work with speech/audio datasets and AI training data

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• This role may be offered as a full-time or part-time position depending on role/business needs and candidate availability; full-time positions are preferred and require working standard business hours in your local time zone
• We are unable to provide visa sponsorship
• Must be willing to travel to a SpaceXSI site

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

US-based candidates: $35/hour - $45/hour depending on factors including relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications.
