Description du poste

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars. SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will help enhance Grok by providing high-quality data annotations, labels, and inputs focused on applied mathematics. You will draw on your expertise in areas such as numerical analysis and scientific computing, ordinary and partial differential equations, probability and applied statistics, computational linear algebra, and mathematical physics or mathematical biology to evaluate model outputs, identify modeling errors or numerical issues, and produce clear, rigorous solutions and explanations. This role requires strong mathematical writing skills, attention to precision, and the ability to maintain logical consistency throughout complex mathematical arguments. Your work will help train Grok to distinguish flawed or inadequately justified approaches from solutions that are mathematically sound, accurately modeled, and practically applicable.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluate model outputs, independently verify mathematical solutions, identify subtle errors in reasoning, modelling, or numerical computations, and produce clear, rigorous, and technically sound solutions and explanations.
  • Use proprietary software applications to annotate and label data for designated projects.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality, accurate, and well-curated datasets that meet project standards.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to develop and train new tasks, contributing to the successful development and implementation of innovative technologies and initiatives.
  • Work closely with technical staff to improve the design, functionality, and efficiency of annotation tools and workflows.
  • Solve problems across applied mathematics domains aligned with your expertise, including probability, statistics, numerical analysis, optimization, operations research, dynamical systems, data modeling, and related fields. Develop detailed solutions and critically evaluate AI-generated responses.
  • Interpret, analyze, and execute tasks accurately in accordance with established guidelines and project requirements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Meet one of the following criteria:
    • A master's degree or PhD in mathematics, with a specialization in an applied mathematics subfield; or
    • A medal in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) or a comparable high-level mathematics competition.
  • English proficiency at CEFR C1 level or higher.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Peer-reviewed publications in applied mathematics in reputable scientific journals.
  • Previous experience in AI tutoring, AI model evaluation, or related applications of artificial intelligence.
  • Teaching experience, particularly at the college or university level.
  • Strong research skills, including the ability to navigate diverse information resources, academic databases, and technical literature.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment when working with limited information.
  • A strong interest in technological advancement, innovation, and emerging technologies.
LOCATION AND OTHER EXPECTATIONS
  • This is a remote role which may be performed from the following countries:
    • United States
    • United Kingdom
    • Canada
    • Australia
    • India
  • This role may be offered as a full-time or part-time position, depending on role / business needs and candidate availability. Full-time positions are preferred and require working standard business hours in your local time zone.
  • Positions are typically offered as fixed-term employment contracts of 6 months. Extensions or conversion to a permanent role may be available based on business needs.
  • For US-based candidates, please note that we are unable to hire in Wyoming and Illinois at this time.
  • We are unable to provide visa sponsorship.
  • Travel to a SpaceXSI site may be required.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • US-based candidates: $45/hour - $75/hour depending on factors including relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications. International candidates: Information will be provided to you during the recruitment process.
  • Benefits vary based on employment type, location, and jurisdiction. Benefits for eligible US-based positions include health insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave. Specific details and role-specific information will be provided to you during the interview process.
