Job description

Location: Denver, Colorado
Compensation: Competitive base salary + package
Environment: Smallsat Design and Manufacturing

A satellite is sitting in front of you.

The hardware has been assembled. The payload is integrated. The spacecraft bus is powered.

Now we need to prove that it works.

Not on paper.

On the spacecraft.

We're working with a rapidly growing international New Space company developing and manufacturing advanced small satellite platforms for commercial, scientific and government missions.

As its US engineering capability continues to grow, we're looking for a hands-on Test Engineer / Systems Engineer – AI&T to join the team in Denver.

And there are two things we're particularly interested in:

Electrical test execution and test script development.

If you've spent your career actually testing spacecraft hardware, developing the scripts that control or automate those tests, analysing the results and troubleshooting when something doesn't behave as expected, this could be very interesting.

What will you actually be doing?

You'll work directly with satellite hardware throughout Assembly, Integration & Test.

A major part of your role will be executing electrical and functional testing across spacecraft subsystems, payloads and fully integrated satellites.

You'll develop test procedures and write the test scripts used to execute, automate and standardise spacecraft testing.

You'll run those tests.

You'll analyse the results.

And when something fails, you'll work with the wider engineering team to understand whether you're looking at a test issue, an interface problem, a hardware fault, a software problem or something else entirely.

You'll work closely with payload, electrical, avionics, software and systems engineers throughout the process.

Your work will include:

  • Electrical and functional test execution

  • Test script development and automation

  • Spacecraft bus and payload testing

  • Hardware/software integration testing

  • Test equipment and test setup configuration

  • Test procedure development

  • Test data collection and analysis

  • Troubleshooting test failures and anomalies

  • Requirements verification and validation

  • Interface testing between spacecraft subsystems

  • Environmental test support including TVAC, vibration and EMI/EMC

  • Test reports, results and troubleshooting documentation

You'll also help improve how testing is performed as the organisation scales — developing more repeatable, automated and efficient approaches rather than simply following the same procedure indefinitely.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who considers themselves a Test Engineer first.

Ideally, you'll have 3+ years of experience testing spacecraft, satellites, aerospace hardware or similarly complex electrical systems.

The strongest candidates will have direct experience developing and executing electrical tests on real hardware.

We'd particularly like to see experience across areas such as:

Electrical Testing | Functional Testing | Test Script Development | Test Automation | Python | Spacecraft AIT/AI&T | Satellite Payloads | Spacecraft Buses | Hardware/Software Integration | Verification & Validation

Experience developing test scripts using Python would be particularly relevant, with MATLAB or Simulink also useful.

And if you've supported TVAC, vibration, EMI/EMC or other spacecraft environmental test campaigns, even better.

The kind of person we're looking for

You don't need to have spent your entire career with \"Systems Engineer\" written on your business card.

You might currently be a:

Spacecraft Test Engineer, Electrical Test Engineer, Satellite Test Engineer, AIT Engineer, AI&T Engineer, Integration & Test Engineer or Verification & Validation Engineer.

What matters is what you've actually done.

Have you sat in front of spacecraft hardware and executed electrical tests?

Have you written the scripts used to run those tests?

Can you look at unexpected test data and start figuring out what went wrong?

Can you work across electrical, software and systems teams to resolve the problem?

If the answer is yes, we'd like to hear from you.

Why join?

You'll be joining during a significant period of growth rather than arriving after everything has already been built.

That means you'll have the opportunity to influence how spacecraft testing is performed, automated and scaled as the US operation develops.

You'll work on real satellite hardware, alongside international engineering teams developing spacecraft for commercial, scientific and government missions.

The position is primarily onsite in Denver, Colorado, so you'll need to be locally based or willing to relocate.

Occasional travel within the US and internationally may also be required.

You must be a US citizen or US permanent resident.

Package

$120,000-$150,000 base salary, depending on experience.

Health insurance, matching 401(k) and a team performance-based bonus are also included.

If you're a Test Engineer who enjoys being close to the hardware — writing the test, running the test and then figuring out why the result wasn't what everyone expected — I'd really like to hear from you.
