Job summary

The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation seeks a Business Systems and AI Engineer to advance AI capabilities and build reliable systems that support grantmaking and operations.

The Foundation has adopted an AI policy and strategy, is well along in enabling its staff, and is building its own AI infrastructure. This role partners with the Director of Information Technology and Grants Management, combining hands-on engineering with responsibility for shared AI tools and staff learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, AI, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong programming in Python or TypeScript, building APIs and integrations, and SQL knowledge.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, testing, code review, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain AI tools, APIs, and integrations across Salesforce, Microsoft 365, Box, and external data sources.
• Improve grants management systems, data quality, and reporting.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines; document and support the systems.
