Job summary

THE ROLE

AMD is looking for an influential engineer working on software and hardware co‑design. You will be a founding member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will define the future of hardware and software AI compute solutions.

THE PERSON

Ideal candidates should possess a "Just‑Do‑It" mindset and strong motivation. They must be driven to understand the status quo and explore better solutions using first principles of thinking. Experience is highly preferred in end‑to‑end development of startup/GPU AI hardware, including programming models, GPU microarchitectures, tapeout, and bring‑up.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with AMD architecture engineers on GPU software and hardware design decisions.
  • Co‑optimize AI workloads on current and next generation GPUs.
  • Contribute to client projects and open‑source AI frameworks, driving features and adoption.
  • Design and develop new technologies for future compute platforms.
  • Participate in new hardware bring‑up and validation.
  • Build strong technical relationships with peers and partners.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Deep AI infrastructure experience with open‑source frameworks (e.g., SGLang, vLLM).
  • Strong kernel optimization skills using DSLs and HIP (or CUDA), plus PTX/SASS equivalents.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of modern GPU architecture.
  • Demonstrated open‑source contributions on GitHub.
  • Motivational leadership and excellent interpersonal skills.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
