Job summary

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) seeks a lead AI researcher to set strategic direction and advance measurement science through artificial intelligence. You will serve as the principal expert applying machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing to address measurement challenges.

Formulate original research, develop novel test software, methodologies, and AI-driven benchmarks to advance national standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related with 30 semester hours in mathematics, statistics and computer science.
At least 15 of 30 semester hours must include statistics and mathematics with calculus.
One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at GS-14 level in AI measurement science or equivalent.
Experience in establishing strategic technical direction and in using core AI approaches to address industry challenges.
Experience setting vision and strategic direction in projects involving statistical data analysis and experimental design.

Responsibilities

Lead AI research with focus on ML, DL, and NLP to address measurement challenges.
Set strategic direction and provide principal technical leadership for AI initiatives.
Develop novel test software, methodologies, and AI-driven benchmarks for standards advancement.
