Job description

Company Overview

Our client is a privately held healthcare communications agency that has built its reputation over nearly two decades on deep industry expertise and work that helps more patients benefit from the treatments they need. The agency has grown entirely through word of mouth and referrals, expanding roughly 70% in the past year alone. Founder owned and people first, the agency values work life balance, collaboration, and the belief that great people are what make great work possible. As it continues to scale, the agency is investing in AI to remove repetitive work, improve quality, and compete with organizations many times its size, and this role will build the technology that makes that possible.

Position Overview

This is a rare opportunity to be one of the first technical builders on a newly formed innovation team at a fast growing agency. Reporting to the Head of Digital Strategy & Innovation, the AI Solutions Technologist will design, build, and deploy the AI tools, integrations, and automations that change how the agency operates. First, the role offers genuine ownership, with the chance to help identify early priorities and bring them to life rather than working from a fixed task list. Second, it carries visibility across the business, partnering with account services, strategy, editorial, scientific and medical, and creative teams to solve real operational challenges. Third, it is a builder’s seat with lasting impact, where the systems, standards, and reusable components you create will form the technical foundation for the agency’s AI capabilities as it continues to scale. The role is fully remote within the United States.

Position Responsibilities
  • Design, build, test, and deploy AI powered applications, tools, agents, and automations that reduce manual work, improve speed and consistency, and help teams operate more efficiently.
  • Partner with account services, project management, strategy, editorial, scientific and medical, creative, and other teams to identify automation opportunities and translate operational needs into working technical solutions.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing agency systems, software, and creative production tools so new solutions fit naturally into how teams already work.
  • Partner with the Creative AI Technologist to turn successful creative prototypes into reliable, scalable production solutions, and provide ongoing maintenance and support.
  • Evaluate models, APIs, platforms, and architectures for feasibility, performance, cost, scalability, and security, and recommend build versus buy approaches.
  • Develop reusable components, frameworks, and lightweight applications that can support multiple workflows across the agency.
  • Continuously refine prompts, automations, agents, and systems to improve accuracy, reliability, usability, and measurable time savings.
  • Establish documentation and technical standards for AI systems, and work with IT and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate security, privacy, and infrastructure in a regulated industry.
  • Translate technical concepts into clear recommendations for nontechnical stakeholders.
Position Qualifications
  • Proven track record of building and deploying AI enabled applications or automation solutions that delivered measurable improvements in efficiency or quality.
  • 5 or more years of experience in software development, AI engineering, data engineering, machine learning, automation, or a related discipline.
  • Agency experience, with an understanding of how agency teams operate and where technology can remove friction from their work.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or comparable languages, along with experience working with APIs, databases, automation platforms, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong understanding of generative and agentic AI, including LLMs, prompt engineering, model APIs, and AI application architecture.
Preferred
  • Experience in a healthcare or pharmaceutical communications agency or another regulated environment, with a strong appreciation for confidentiality, compliance, and responsible AI use.
  • Entrepreneurial self starter who can identify opportunities and drive solutions independently in a smaller, high growth environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and build trust with nontechnical teams.
