Job description

The AI Solutions Automation Engineer is a hands‑on technical role responsible for designing, architecting, and delivering AI‑driven automation solutions within the firm’s Microsoft 365 environment. Reporting to the Head of AI and Innovation, this role serves as the primary execution and architecture lead for Microsoft Copilot‑based automation, including Copilot Studio agents, Power Automate workflows, and SharePoint‑ and OneDrive‑grounded knowledge solutions.

This position focuses on practical delivery, technical architecture, and build quality, translating approved AI priorities into governed, production‑ready solutions. The role will initially operate as the firm’s primary AI automation builder and is expected, over time, to mentor and train a junior engineer to expand delivery capacity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and build AI‑driven workflow automation using Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Automate, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Outlook, and Microsoft Graph.
  • Select and implement the appropriate Microsoft 365 extensibility pattern (e.g., Copilot Studio agents, automated workflows, connectors, APIs) based on business requirements, data sources, and risk considerations.
  • Architect human‑in‑the‑loop automation that preserves appropriate review, approval, and professional judgment for legal and regulated workflows.
  • Develop reusable solution patterns, reference architectures, and implementation standards to support scalable delivery.
Governance‑Aligned Engineering
  • Design solutions that comply with firm policies and Microsoft 365 governance controls, including permissions, sensitivity labels, data loss prevention (DLP), and environment separation (Dev/Test/Prod).
  • Partner closely with IT, Security, and Compliance to ensure solutions are production‑ready and meet security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, testing evidence, and release materials to support approval and deployment.
Quality, Testing, and Support
  • Own technical quality for delivered solutions, including testing, validation, and issue remediation.
  • Troubleshoot integration, data access, and workflow issues across Microsoft 365 services.
  • Provide limited post‑deployment support and iteration for approved solutions.
  • Support workflow‑specific user enablement through documentation, demos, and targeted guidance.
  • Mentor and train a junior automation engineer over time, establishing clear build standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • 5-7 years of experience in enterprise software engineering, automation, or solutions architecture.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 automation and extensibility, including Power Automate and SharePoint/OneDrive.
  • Experience designing and delivering solutions in regulated or compliance‑sensitive environments (e.g., law firm, professional services, financial services).
  • Strong understanding of solution architecture principles, workflow design, and system integration.
  • Ability to work independently as an individual contributor while collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio or similar conversational/agent platforms.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Graph APIs, connectors, and identity/permission models.
  • Working familiarity with Power Platform environment management and governance concepts (DLP, solution lifecycle)
  • Exposure to data governance, privacy, and information‑management concepts in a legal or professional‑services context.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior engineers or technical analysts.
What We Offer
  • Hybrid work environment that provides flexibility while fostering collaboration. Three in‑office days and two remote workdays each week.
  • Generous PTO, paid holidays, and parental leave programs.
  • Family‑building and fertility support benefits.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Remote work and mobile phone reimbursement programs.
  • Meaningful opportunities for professional growth.
  • A collegial, team‑oriented culture where employees are valued and supported.
