Job summary

Formlabs in Somerville, MA invites you to join as an AI Software Intern in a full-time winter/spring 2027 program. You'll work with core software teams to design, prototype, and scale intelligent algorithms for 3D spatial data, automated print workflows, and real-time vision pipelines.

The role requires pursuing a BS/MS/PhD in a quantitative field, strong Python skills, working knowledge of C++, and familiarity with ML/DL frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in CS, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
• Strong Python skills and prototyping with ML/DL frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Solid C++ foundations and production-ready code interest.
• Experience with unstructured datasets, point clouds, meshes, voxel grids.
• Bonus: Open3D, TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, or CGAL experience.

Responsibilities

• Prototype Intelligent Algorithms for 3D spatial data and print workflows.
• Develop real-time computer vision pipelines for system monitoring and defect detection.
• Profile and optimize model architectures for fast runtime in desktop or cloud environments.
• Collaborate with software engineers and cross-disciplinary teams to translate research into prototypes.
