Job summary

Entergy seeks an AI Software Engineer Sr Staff to join our AI team in a hybrid role based in New Orleans, LA. You will design, build, and maintain scalable software powering AI-enabled applications across internal tools and customer platforms.

Lead engineering initiatives across the full development lifecycle, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, secure solutions aligned with business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience and strong cloud exposure.
• Experience designing and delivering AI-enabled software solutions.
• Ability to mentor and lead junior engineers across teams.

Responsibilities

Job Summary/Purpose

As a core member of the AI team, the software engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable, reliable and maintainable software systems. These systems often power AI-enabled applications, ranging from internal tools to customer-facing platforms. The engineer works across the full development lifecycle-from architecture and coding to deployment and support-ensuring that software products meet high standards of performance, usability, and security.

While many solutions incorporate AI technologies, the focus is on delivery robust, well-engineered applications that integrate with business workflows. These tools are designed to help users solve real-world problems more efficiently, enabling smarter decisions and more streamlined operations across the organization.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement software solutions on system design specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Refine and optimize data and machine learning algorithms into production environments.
• Ensure scalability, efficiency, and maintainability of the codebase.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify, correct, and improve inefficient code.
• Document software development and monitor systems to ensure they meet both user needs and business goals.
• Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in software engineering.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience required of the position

Minimumexperiencerequired of the position.

10+ years’ experience in software engineering, software development, or related field.

Preferred experience of the position

Experience working with cloud-based platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

2+ years’ experience working in the electric or gas utility sector.

Technical Capabilities

• Mastery in one or more programming languages.
• Mastery in version control systems and repository hosting systems, e.g., Git and GitHub.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.
