Job summary

Leidos is seeking AI Software Developers at Jr, Mid, and Senior levels to design and implement microservices within an Agile/SAFe framework. The role focuses on AI-enabled or data-driven systems and requires ability to obtain a Public Trust.

Hybrid work is possible with onsite in Gaithersburg, MD; Eagan, MN; or Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The team builds the L-CAP platform, a cloud-native, data mesh-based solution for national air traffic operations, with a strong emphasis on software quality,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• 2+ years for Junior, 4+ years for Mid, 8+ years for Senior established in the role.
• Proficiency in Java or C++ with production software experience.
• Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and distributed architectures.
• CI/CD and DevOps practices; Git proficiency.
• Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Agile/SAFe familiarity; ability to deliver iteratively.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
• U.S. citizenship required; successful completion of background investigations.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop microservices that form the backbone of L-CAP.
• Collaborate with architects to translate system designs into robust implementations.
• Implement RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations in a hybrid cloud data mesh.
• Integrate with relational and NoSQL databases; ensure data consistency and performance.
• Perform performance tuning for distributed services; lead code reviews.
• Mentor junior developers and guide their growth.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across services, APIs, and infrastructure.
• Contribute to design docs, API specs, and runbooks; participate in SAFe ceremonies.
