Job description

The Grid Frontier Studio operates differently from traditional project delivery to deliver industry-changing products: it starts with a strategic problem, forms the right team around the outcome, rapidly tests assumptions, and moves promising concepts toward production and enterprise scale This role partners with executive leaders to identify and shape high‑value opportunities aligned to MISO’s strategy and Reliability Imperative, translating strategic ambition into focused flagship initiatives with clear value and measurable outcomes. The role is accountable for turning these opportunities into sustained enterprise impact - accelerating innovation, building differentiated capabilities, and scaling what works across MISO.

Some of the impactful contributions you’ll make as MISO’s AI Senior Managerinclude:

  • Partnering with executive leaders and business stakeholders to identify complex problems where new technology, data, AI, or operating models can create meaningful value.
  • Building and leading multidisciplinary teams that combine business, product, technology, data, AI, and transformation expertise to execute strategic initiatives.
  • Developing talent capable of thriving in ambiguous, high‑impact, and fast‑moving environments.
  • Establishing repeatable innovation and delivery practices, including playbooks, frameworks, and communities of practice.
  • Using a flexible talent model that blends internal expertise with strategic partners and specialized external capabilities when appropriate.
  • Leading initiatives through a structured lifecycle, from vision and definition through MVP, validation, value realization, and transition to scale.
  • Embedding cybersecurity, architecture, data, AI governance, regulatory, risk, and reliability practices into initiatives while minimizing delivery friction.
  • Identifying, assessing, and translating emerging technologies, industry trends, and external innovations into actionable opportunities, partnerships, and reusable enterprise‑scale capabilities.

You’ll need the following skills to be successful as our AI Senior Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, data science, or a related technical field; a master’s or advanced degree in AI, computer science, or technology is required.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, data and analytics, AI/ML engineering, integration architecture, or related technology disciplines.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and deliver enterprise‑scale technology capabilities, with at least 3+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success guiding complex, cross‑functional initiatives from strategy through implementation and measurable business impact.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior business and technology leaders and communicate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Deep technical expertise in CI/CD, testing, observability, version control, security, and modern DevOps/MLOps practices.
  • Experience with emerging AI technologies - such as agentic AI, orchestration frameworks, tool calling, or multi‑agent architectures - is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to translate new or emerging technologies into practical, scalable business and operational capabilities.
