Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute in Pittsburgh seeks an AI Security Research Intern to contribute to AI assurance and red-teaming efforts on software systems for national security. You will support AI forensics, response, and mitigation while learning from security engineers and researchers.

The role is a part-time, student worker position on-site at the CMU SEI Pittsburgh office, with travel as needed and eligibility to work in the United States without visa

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technical field; pursuing an MS in CS or related field
• Willingness to travel to various locations to support the SEI’s mission, including CMU community
• Eligible to work in the United States without Visa sponsorship
• Able to work an internship part-time during Fall 2026 and Spring 2027
• Able to work onsite at the SEI Pittsburgh office
