Job summary

Itron is seeking an Information Security intern to support AI-enabled security engineering initiatives in Liberty Lake, WA. The role offers hands-on experience with AI, automation, software development, and security engineering while you continue your education.

Start ASAP, part-time during the academic year (20-25 hrs) and full-time 40 hrs/week in Summer 2027. Not a remote position, preference for WA residents. Wage information indicates hourly pay up to $44.23.

Qualifications

• Education: Currently enrolled in a degree program in Cybersecurity, CS, SE, data science or AI.
• Foundational cybersecurity concepts such as IAM, cloud security, endpoint security, networking.
• Intermediate programming or scripting (Python, PowerShell, JS, C#).
• Understanding of AI/ML concepts and data analysis.
• Ability to troubleshoot, learn new tech and work independently within a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing, testing, and documenting AI-enabled security tools, workflows, and prototypes.
• Use scripting and APIs to automate security tasks, data collection, enrichment, analysis, and reporting.
• Support integration and evaluation of security technologies across cloud, identity, endpoint, network, and data environments.
• Analyze security data to identify patterns, anomalies, potential threats, and improve controls.
• Help assess security of AI solutions, including access controls, data protection, prompts and model risks, safeguards.
• Build and maintain technical documentation, test plans, code repositories, and repeatable procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to define requirements, troubleshoot, and deliver outcomes.
