Job summary

Itron, Inc. is seeking an Information Security intern in Liberty Lake, WA to support AI-enabled security engineering initiatives. You will gain hands-on experience applying AI, automation, software development, and security practices while you pursue your education.

Responsibilities include developing and testing AI-enabled security tools, automating tasks via APIs, and documenting procedures. The role blends part-time academic-year work with a full-time summer commitment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Cybersecurity, CS, SWE, or related field.
• Foundational cybersecurity concepts (IAM, cloud security, threat detection).
• Programming/scripting in Python, PowerShell, JS, or C#.
• Understanding AI/ML concepts and data analysis.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing and testing AI-enabled security tools and prototypes.
• Automate security tasks via scripting and APIs; collect and analyze data.
• Support integration of security tech across cloud, identity, endpoints, and networks.
• Analyze security data to spot patterns and potential threats.
• Evaluate AI security aspects including access controls and data protection.
• Maintain docs, test plans, and code repositories.
• Collaborate with engineers to define requirements and deliver outcomes.
