Job summary

SpaceX is seeking an AI Security Software Engineer (STARSHIELD) to integrate AI into security across Starshield systems, including in-space networks and critical infrastructure. The role focuses on agent security, LLM-based defenses, and secure AI practices. A Top Secret clearance is required.

The candidate will design, test, and deploy security-focused AI agents, coordinate with multiple engineering teams, and help push the boundaries of AI-enabled defense for national-security missions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or another STEM discipline, OR 2+ years of professional security software development experience.
• Experience with one or more software development languages (Python, C++, Golang).
• Experience designing and implementing security solutions for operating systems, distributed systems, or large-scale infrastructure.
• Experience designing and implementing AI integrations, including LLMs or LLM-based agents.

Responsibilities

• Design and build security-critical agents for Starshield that automate network and systems defense.
• Leverage AI to discover and fix security issues in Starshield infrastructure and systems.
• Provide guidance and testing of AI integrations into Starshield systems.
• Identify new areas of the program where security improvements can be gained via automation and AI.
• Maintain existing production systems and improve security posture via direct implementation and recommendations.
