Job summary

Abnormal AI is seeking an Application Security Engineer II to secure its AI-powered AWS-based platform. You will own security architecture, build secure coding practices, and coach engineering teams while partnering across functions to defend the systems and customers.

In this role you will drive threat modeling, implement automated security testing, and contribute during incidents, reporting to the Director of Security Engineering. Competitive compensation and equity are offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in application security engineering, ideally in cloud-native environments.
• Experience securing AI/ML-powered systems; familiar with prompt injection risks.
• Strong production coding ability in Python/Go/Java/JS/TS.
• Web app security expertise including OWASP Top 10 and secure API design.
• Hands-on threat modeling and security architecture reviews.
• Ability to influence across engineering, DevOps and product teams with clear writing.

Responsibilities

• Lead threat modeling and security architecture reviews with engineering teams.
• Architect, build, and maintain security tooling to bake security into CI/CD.
• Design and deploy automated security testing early in development.
• Contribute hands-on during security incidents and improve response processes.
• Coach developers on secure coding and threat modeling for AI-native systems.
• Define and track security posture metrics with dashboards.
