Job summary

UW Information Technology in Seattle is seeking an AI Security Engineer to protect the security, governance, and compliance of AI initiatives across three campuses. Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity or related field.
• 3+ years of cloud security engineering / DevSecOps experience.
• Hands-on with Azure security services (Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Entra ID, RBAC, Policy, Key Vault).
• Understanding of Zero Trust, IAM, and conditional access.
• Experience with containers/Kubernetes security concepts.
• Python/PowerShell/Bash for security automation.
• Familiarity with SIEMs and incident response.
• Knowledge of FERPA, HIPAA, NIST 800-53/800-171, SOC 2 controls.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain security controls for AI platforms in Azure.
• Configure identity management and Zero Trust across hierarchies.
• Embed security into CI/CD with IaC scanning and policy-as-code.
• Develop security automation scripts and tooling.
• Support AI application security, red-teaming, and guardrails.
• Produce compliance evidence and assist vendor security oversight.
• Monitor security posture with Azure Sentinel and incident response playbooks.
• Contribute to security documentation and runbooks.
