Job summary

Vanguard is seeking a Manager of AI Security Discovery and Detection to lead strategy and operations for identifying and monitoring AI systems across the technology environment. You will drive AISPM discovery, build AI-focused detection capabilities, and collaborate with security, data, risk, and business teams to enforce AI policies.

The role requires leadership of a high-performing team, oversight of the discovery lifecycle, and the ability to translate AI risks into actionable controls.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Cyber Security with focus on Cloud Security, Data Security, or AI/ML Security.
• Preferred certifications: CISSP, CCSP.

Responsibilities

• Set the strategy and roadmap for AISPM Discovery and Detection, including priorities and measures of success.
• Lead enterprise-wide discovery/inventory of AI systems across endpoints, networks, cloud, and SaaS.
• Build/detect AI-focused capabilities to identify Shadow AI, policy violations, and abnormal behavior.
• Oversee detection lifecycle: use-case development, testing, deployment, tuning, coverage, and integration with security monitoring.
• Partner with security, technology, data, risk, legal, privacy, and business teams to translate AI risks into controls.
• Define metrics/reporting on AI discovery coverage, inventory, detection effectiveness, and risk reduction.
• Recruit and develop a high-performing AI Security team.

Job description

Archer is collaborating with Vanguard to connect them with exceptional professionals for this role. As the Manager of AI Security Discovery and Detection, you will lead the strategy and operations required to identify and continuously monitor AI systems and artifacts across Vanguard’s technology environment. You will build and mature detection capabilities across endpoint, network, cloud, and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms, giving Vanguard visibility into approved and unapproved AI while identifying abnormal or high-risk activity involving authorized systems.

Responsibilities

• Set the strategy and roadmap for AI Security Posture Management (AISPM) Discovery and Detection, including priorities, operating model, and measures of success.
• Lead enterprise-wide discovery and inventory of AI systems and usage across endpoints, network, cloud platforms, and SaaS applications including both approved and unapproved AI.
• Build and mature AI-focused detection capabilities that identify Shadow AI, policy violations, suspicious activity, and abnormal behavior within approved AI systems.
• Oversee the detection lifecycle, including use-case development, prioritization, testing, deployment, tuning, coverage assessment, and integration with security monitoring and incident-response processes.
• Partner across security, technology, data, risk, legal, privacy, and business teams to translate AI risks and policies into actionable discovery and monitoring controls and requirements.
• Define meaningful metrics and reporting that communicate AI discovery coverage, inventory completeness, detection effectiveness, unauthorized usage trends, control gaps, and risk reduction.
• Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing team, ensuring the AI Security team is a sought-after location for talented technical talent to continue learning and evolving their craft.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Cyber Security, with at least 2 years specifically focused on Cloud Security, Data Security, or AI/ML Security
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Preferred certifications: CISSP, CCSP
