Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a hands-on Security Architect to support AI and emerging tech initiatives. You will work with security architects to evaluate designs, identify risks, and develop secure architecture while guiding teams through security reviews.

The role requires strong experience in security architecture, cloud security (Azure preferred), and cross‑functional collaboration across engineering and security teams. The position is hybrid in Chicago, IL.

Qualifications

Job description

We are seeking a Security Architect to support a growing portfolio of artificial intelligence and emerging technology initiatives. This individual will work alongside security architects to evaluate solution designs, identify security requirements and risks, develop security architecture, and help teams navigate security review and approval processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide security architecture support for AI, agentic AI, cloud, SaaS, and other emerging technology initiatives.
• Review solution architectures, data flows, integrations, and technical designs to identify security requirements and risks.
• Translate security policies, standards, and control requirements into practical technical guidance.
• Develop and document security architecture, including diagrams, security requirements, design recommendations, and reusable patterns.
• Perform and support threat modeling and security design reviews.
• Evaluate identity and access management, authentication and authorization, data protection, network security, API security, application security, logging, monitoring, secrets management, and related security considerations.
• Partner with engineering teams, enterprise architects, IAM, data protection, security operations, application security, and other Cyber teams to resolve architecture questions.
• Support initiatives through architecture governance and security review processes, including documenting findings and tracking issues through resolution.
• Help develop reusable reference architectures, patterns, guardrails, and technical guidance.
• Research emerging technologies and security capabilities and provide practical recommendations.
• Manage multiple concurrent architecture engagements and proactively drive assigned work to completion.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience in cybersecurity, security architecture, technology architecture, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Practical experience performing security architecture or security design reviews.
• Strong understanding of core security concepts, including:
• Identity and access management
• Authentication and authorization
• Data protection and encryption
• Network and cloud security
• API and application security
• Logging, monitoring, and detection
• Secrets and credential management
• Experience with cloud technologies, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Ability to read and evaluate architecture and data-flow diagrams.
• Ability to translate security requirements into actionable technical recommendations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively across engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, and business teams.
• Ability to independently organize ambiguous problems, coordinate stakeholders, and drive issues through resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AI/ML platforms, generative AI, large language model applications, or agentic AI.
• Familiarity with AI security topics such as prompt injection, sensitive data exposure, AI identities, RAG, MCP, model access, and AI observability.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure AI services, Microsoft Copilot technologies, Power Platform, or similar enterprise AI platforms.
• Experience developing reference architectures or reusable security patterns.
• Experience with threat-modeling methodologies.
• Experience working in a regulated financial services environment.

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $80.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
