Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory is seeking a Cybersecurity Researcher/Engineer in Lexington, MA to advance secure software and embedded systems across diverse platforms. The role emphasizes designing security from the start and providing rigorous evidence of resilience against attacks.

You will prototype secure software using Rust and C/C++, explore AI-enabled cyber defense strategies, and collaborate with researchers across disciplines to transition successful technologies to mission use.

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in a related technical field and strong hands‑on cyber security background.
  • Experience with secure software development, embedded systems, and threat modeling is valued.
  • Proven ability to design, prototype, and evaluate secure systems in teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex results to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, prototype, and evaluate new approaches to securing software and embedded systems.
  • Develop high‑quality software and experimental systems using Rust, C/C++ and related languages.
  • Explore AI and cybersecurity intersections, including AI as a tool for cyber defense.
  • Collaborate across cybersecurity, cryptography, formal methods, AI, and space domains.
  • Present results to stakeholders and contribute to reports, prototypes, and transition to operations.
