Tempus AI, Inc. is seeking an AI Scientist to advance precision medicine by designing and deploying multimodal AI models on large clinical datasets. You will work at the intersection of machine learning and clinical science to transform patient care.

The role involves hands-on model development, evaluation, and publication of research findings, with opportunities to influence biomarker discovery and companion diagnostics in a rapidly growing field.

Qualifications

• Education: Ph.D. in Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Domain Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in deep learning model development and rigorous evaluation.
• Research Excellence: A strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in leading ML or computer vision venues.
• Engineering Excellence: Proficiency in Python and the modern deep learning stack (e.g. PyTorch). Strong product-level coding skills and solid software engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Technical Contribution: This is an individual contributor role with significant hands-on contribution.
• Algorithmic Innovation: Design and train state-of-the-art models utilizing multi-modal data (pathology slides, genomic profiles, spatial omics, longitudinal records).
• Collaboration with Life Sciences Companies: Develop AI solutions to support biomarker discovery, therapy outcome prediction, and CDx advancement.
• Regulatory Alignment: Ensure AI products meet regulatory guidelines and quality standards for healthcare applications.
• Scientific Contribution: Publish original research in high-impact venues and engage with the AI research community.
