Job description

Responsibilities

• Design a production and training system that enables an autonomous LLM-powered agent to utilize various tools across web browsing, retrieval, and code execution to answer user prompts with high-quality, cited responses.
• Collaborate with the Core Research & Post-Training Team to improve model expansion, reformulation, querying, and summarization against Perplexity’s retrieval index.
• Enhance the speed and quality of our codebase and engineering processes to ensure a consistently excellent product experience.
• Work with Perplexity GTM leaders and diverse stakeholders (e.g., Motorola, TripAdvisor) to develop integrated product solutions across research verticals like Travel and Retail.

Qualifications

• Proven research experience with large-scale LLMs and Deep Learning systems.
• Strong Post-Training skills, familiar with supervised and reinforcement learning, reward formulation, and evaluation techniques.
• Intuitive understanding of consumer products, especially Agent products, with a willingness to unblock at any level and take ownership of the end-user experience.
• Ability to make tradeoffs in developing end-to-end agents, including training techniques, model architecture, and prompting strategies.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant deep learning research experience.

The cash compensation range for this role is $200,000 - $280,000.

Final offer amounts depend on experience and expertise and may vary from the listed range.

Equity may be included in the total compensation package.
