Job description

Meta FAIR is one of the top industrial research organizations in the world. In the FAIR Perception team, we publish groundbreaking papers (e.g., SAM, SAM 2, Masked Autoencoders, Hiera) and collaborate closely with Applied Research and Meta production teams to bring the latest research findings to Meta's products for connecting billions of users.

We are driving an ambitious agenda building on the success of SAM, SAM 2, and other related works to create foundation models for computer vision and language. We develop state-of-the-art models, large-scale datasets, and interactive demos to drive impact. We are looking for engineers interested in software engineering and computer vision research.

AI Research Engineer, Computer Vision - FAIR
Responsibilities:
  1. Lead, collaborate, and execute research advancing the state of the art in computer vision.
  2. Contribute to experimental design, implementation, evaluation, and reporting results.
  3. Work with and create large datasets and evaluation benchmarks.
  4. Collaborate with scientists and engineers in a cross-functional team.
  5. Build optimized software tools and infrastructure to accelerate research outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  2. Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  3. 3+ years of experience in Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Graphics, Robotics, or AI Infrastructure.
  4. Experience coding software and executing complex experiments.
  5. Research experience in areas like computer vision, multimodal perception, NLP, or HCI+perception.
  6. Proficiency with Python and PyTorch.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. PhD in computer vision, machine learning, or related areas.
  2. Author-contributed research publications in AI conferences such as ICCV, CVPR, NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, NAACL.
  3. Experience with C++, CUDA, and model optimization.

Compensation ranges from $70.67/hour to $208,000/year plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Actual compensation depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits information is available at Meta's website.
