Job description

About Alaris Security

Alaris Security is building the core technology stack for intelligent cyber security. Designed for enterprise and defense organizations, our platform unifies security data through our proprietary graph database and automates critical tasks using our agent framework. Together these technologies allow us to provide a suite of products that enhance defensive cyber security operations, including automating critical use‑cases: alert analysis, vulnerability triage, investigations, incident response, and attack staging detection among many others.

If you've ever wanted to help shape how the world defends itself against cyberthreats, this is your opportunity.

The Role

As an AI Research Engineer at Alaris, you'll help design and deploy autonomous agents capable of defending some of the world's most sensitive digital environments.

You'll explore cutting‑edge techniques in reinforcement learning, language modeling, and reasoning‑capable systems, and apply them directly to high-impact cyber security use cases. You'll build agents that can act, reason, and adapt, without needing human intervention at every turn.

You'll also play a foundational role in shaping our research roadmap and engineering culture as an early member of the AI team.

What You'll Do
  • Design and build new AI agents to automate key security operations
  • Refine and retrain existing agents to improve precision, recall, and long‑term autonomy
  • Build performance evaluation pipelines and metrics frameworks for agent benchmarking
  • Implement advanced reinforcement learning algorithms to drive decision‑making and reduce task‑specific specialization
  • Track and evaluate emerging AI research with an eye for pragmatic implementation
  • Contribute across the software stack as needed, this is a hybrid research‑engineering role
What We're Looking For
  • Proven research experience, academic, open‑source, or startup
  • Strong programming skills in Python, PyTorch, and TypeScript
  • Deep understanding of LLMs, transformers, and generative modelling
  • Familiarity with reinforcement learning algorithms (preferred)
  • Startup mindset: resourceful, ownership‑driven, and excited to work long hours building something that matters
  • Bonus: 4+ years of engineering in a production setting
Why Alaris

At Alaris, we're not just applying AI to cyber security, we're rethinking the entire defensive architecture. This is a unique opportunity to build the intelligence behind autonomous cyber systems, at a time when the need for speed, precision, and scale has never been greater.

You'll work alongside a high‑caliber team, move fast, conduct research, and implement that research in production environments. If you want to bridge the gap from research to real‑world impact, this is your moment.
