Job Summary:

The AI Product Manager will be at the forefront of identifying opportunities to leverage AI to solve critical business challenges, enhance customer experiences, and unlock new revenue streams. You will be the crucial link between our talented AI development team and various business stakeholders, ensuring that technical capabilities translate into tangible business value.

You will be responsible for defining product roadmaps, prioritizing features, writing user stories, and driving continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle for products that accelerate the road to Zero Waste while providing value for our customers and our communities through efficient, cost-effective and sustainable waste operations.

Responsibilities:

Product Development and Execution 40%:

  • Lead the product development lifecycle for AI initiatives, working closely with machine learning engineers, software developers, and product designers.
  • Translate business requirements and AI possibilities into clear and detailed product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between technical teams and business stakeholders throughout the development process.
  • Manage and prioritize the AI product backlog, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and resource availability.

AI Strategy and Opportunity Identification 30%:

  • Identify and evaluate potential use cases for AI across various aspects of our waste and recycling business, including operations, logistics, customer service, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Define the strategic vision and roadmap for AI powered products and features, aligning with overall business objectives.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of business needs and challenges to determine where AI can provide the most significant impact and ROI.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and related technologies, assessing their potential applicability to our industry.

Stakeholder Management and Communication 20%:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for AI product related initiatives, effectively communicating progress, challenges, and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Communicate product updates, roadmaps, and progress to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and demonstrate the potential and realized value of AI solutions.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of AI products on business outcomes.
  • Advocate for the adoption and integration of AI powered solutions across the organization.

Product Analysis and Optimization 10%:

  • Monitor the performance of deployed AI models and products, identifying areas for optimization and refinement
  • Drive continuous improvement of AI products based on performance data, user feedback, and evolving business needs.
  • Collaborate with data science teams to ensure model accuracy, reliability, and scalability.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional product management with a significant focus on AI products.
  • Enthusiasm for our sustainability driven mission.
  • Experience creating product requirements documents and building product process from the ground up.
  • Strong understanding of AI concepts, algorithms, and development workflows.
  • Familiarity with data platforms and cloud computing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira, or similar.
  • Self-Driven and able to work autonomously
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language.
  • Detailoriented, possess excellent organizational skills, and have an eagerness to learn current and future business processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, multi-task and effectively prioritize conflicting assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, ability to act without having the whole picture using sound judgment and strong decision-making skills.
  • Passionate about business results and quality, with a strong sense of accountability, metrics and ownership.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to grasp the tactical details.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving. Solid decision making in a timely manner.

Preferred:

  • Experience within the waste and recycling industry or related logistics/operations-focused sectors.
  • Experience with specific AI/ML tools and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn, MLflow, Weights and Biases, Ray).
  • Understanding of data privacy and ethical considerations related to AI.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical field (Master’s degree preferred).
