Job summary

Synoptek in Boston, MA seeks an AI Product Development Intern to contribute to the design, development, and iteration of AI-powered software within enterprise security constraints. You will join a small team to translate early concepts into production-ready capabilities and help implement backend/frontend features.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong programming in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with APIs, web architectures, and basic systems design.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to end-to-end AI product development activities from ideation to iteration.
  • Develop and evaluate AI workflows using large language models and retrieval techniques.
  • Translate product requirements into user stories and deliverables.

The AI Product Development Intern supports Synoptek's AI product initiative by contributing to the design, development, and iteration of AI-powered software solutions. This role partners with a small product and engineering team to translate early-stage concepts into functional, production-minded capabilities while operating within enterprise security, reliability, and governance requirements

  • Strong programming capability in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript or similar languages.
  • Familiarity with APIs,web architectures,and basic systems design principles.
  • Exposure to modern AI tooling including prompting,evaluation methods,retrieval-augmented generation,or agent frameworks preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS,Azure,or GCP) and developer workflows such as Git and CI/CD fundamentals.
  • Comfortable operating in a hybrid work environment with minimal supervision.
Role
  • Contribute to end-to-end AI product development activities including ideation, technical design, implementation, testing, and iteration.
  • Develop, experiment with, and evaluate AI workflows using large language models, agents, retrieval techniques, and orchestration patterns.
  • Implement backend and/or frontend software features aligned with product priorities and technical direction.
  • Translate product requirements into user stories, prototypes, and functional deliverables.
  • Incorporate enterprise considerations such as data security, access controls, auditability, reliability, and user workflows into solution design.
  • Document technical decisions, tradeoffs, evaluation outcomes, and delivered features to support knowledge sharing and continuity.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership stakeholders in planning, review, and refinement sessions.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned workstreams and deliverables from concept through completion.
